"Mama Smurf"---Transition Expenses
Donation protected
Everyone that knows me - KNOWS what 'Mama Smurf' meant to me and my children. She is one of reasons that I was able to "work hard" and "play hard"! Because of her I was able to sustain ANY work shift (day/night/weekend etc). I was able to have a social life, travel and enjoy good times without ever wondering "who was going to watch my three kids (at the time)". She helped to keep my household a float for over ten years and I am very saddened to make this post! I have been holding out over the last couple of days, praying, hoping and wishing that the news from the doctors would change. Unfortunately, this is not the case~ "According to the health care team, "Mama Smurf", will not make it! The odds are set against her in an irreversible way, her cancer is beyond treatment, because it has metastasized to her bones and blood. She currently has multiple infections, she has stopped eating and for that reason the palliative team cannot see her existence more than two more weeks". This whole ordeal began back in October 2020 as bladder cancer, by which "Mama Smurf" underwent Chemo treatment and was doing a lot better. However, about three weeks ago, another mass was found in combination with infection. Ever since, the doctors at Washington Hospital Center have been treating her vigorously with antibiotics. But, there have been little to know improvement. For this reason, tomorrow, Monday, June 7th, will be the last day that the medical team will administer the medication. They will be releasing "Mama Smurf" from the hospital, so that she can transition in the comfort of her home. It was recently discovered that her life insurance policy lapsed and therefore, there aren't any funds available for
proper burial and/or service. At this time, the family is trying to raise funds to cremate "Mama Smurf" and possibly have a Memorial Service. The cost has been quoted at about $5, 200 for both. As a family, we are almost 1/2 way to that point but we need help! Anything will help and would be a huge blessing to properly honor her. And although, only God truly knows the day & hour, we have to trust the medical professionals and their approximations. I thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to read my post and pray for better days for us all! Sincerely,
