Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. There are some people who come into our lives, that are like a family we just hadn’t met yet. Momma Shamsa was that family. There is not a single person she met who wasn’t taken into her home as one of her own. We have all walked away with stories of her kindness but especially her amazing food. During this pandemic the stress and fear or keeping healthy and staying safe has been at the forefront of many of our life decisions. Momma Shamsa was not only home schooling her 3 boys but taking care of her mother as well. On March 29,  she walked in to find that her beautiful mother had passed from this world Alhamdulilah late in the night. With great sadness it was confirmed that she passed away from Covid-19. After that the whole family was tested and Momma Shamsa was positive as well.  Even while sick she stayed strong and rallied to bury her mom. Shortly after Momma Shamsa had to be hospitalized as she was struggling to breath due to the virus. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un on May 03, Momma Shamsa left us in the late hours of the night during this Holy month of Ramadan. In a lot of ways she is luckier than us. I am writing to you in a plea that you help secure Momma Shamsa’s legacy, her three boys that she left behind. Abdirahman, Abdulrahim, and the youngest Mohamed. Three teenagers who now have to navigate this world short of their mother. There is not one person who knew Momma Shamsa who did not receive kindness and love from her. Please show  her memory kindness and love and help her boys continue to do their school and live as young kids do. This world is a short journey, let us help finish raising her boys as she would have done for us.
