Mama Rita’s road to recovery
Hi My name is Cyril Que, the son of Rita Que. Along with my family we are doing a Go Fund Me for our mom who has Multiple Myeloma. Basically, this is a cancer of plasma cells; the abnormal plasma cells produce abnormal antibodies, which can cause kidney problems and overly thick blood.
In the case of mama Rita, she had kidney disease 3 years ago and was on steroids continuously. Just about a week ago, she was complaining about her back being extremely painful and being unable to move without experiencing tremendous pain.Thereafter, she went through an MRI and her results has shown lesions on her spine, skull and scapula. Additional tests through a Bone Marrow Biopsy, a high amount of plasma cells were discovered in all of these areas. Throughout that 1 week she went through agonizing pain and to add to that, just 2 days ago she is unable to speak or explain herself properly. They call it encephalopathy, where her cognition is deteriorating.
Mama Rita, is such a loving and caring person to everyone. Always caring not only for the people around her but also towards strangers. She has always been a very anxious and emotional person; very gentle and loves with no boundaries. A blessing to this world and a light for her family. Everyday, everything of who she is, is deteriorating. So we are fighting with her in this dire times. Even though we are far away from each other, We will not give up on her as she has never given up on us. We are aiming to travel back to the Philippines when all of the travel bans are lifted, so we are just buying time to be with her again. While she is still able to recognize us, able to see us and hear us, and able to feel our touch for whatever time God has given her left. We need to be there.
