Leslie Lyme Treatments

We are the Packer family and we would like to introduce you to our mom Leslie, or as many know her “Mama Packer”. She has received this nickname because of the welcoming home she creates where she loves, guides, and supports anyone who comes around. She is a loving, hard working, and determined mother of 8 children and grandmother of 5 little cuties. She is also an attentive, genuine, and supportive wife to her husband (our dad), Lawrence. But that is not all. Mom is a caregiver and doctor to friends, family, and acquaintances (even though she doesn’t have an actual medical license). She regularly spends her time researching and learning as much as she can about physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing if it means she can help someone feel better. One of mom’s greatest talents is learning and then applying what she learns to support her family and other loved ones. Relying on her faith in God, Mama Packer is the best mother, grandmother, wife and friend anyone could want. Raising 8 kids is no simple task, but she has always been an all-star with the challenges and joys that come with each of us. She engages in each of her roles with gratitude and humility. She holds her relationships with us sacred and sacrifices whatever necessary to be able to be present for us in the ways we need.

During the last 12 years Mom has been blindsided by many health issues. The last 5 of those years have been the worst of the 12 as she has started displaying signs of Lyme Disease. During this period she has been on a journey of learning and research to aid her in the fight to be the mom and woman that we all know her to be, but a portion of which Lyme Disease has taken from us all. Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection. If left untreated or in severe cases like Mom’s, the disease can cause serious nervous system damage. Mom’s symptoms have affected her physically through pain and fatigue, and mentally causing depression and short term memory loss. Mom has climbed a constant uphill battle but has slid backward 10” each time she takes step forward.  

Though we have found comfort in the small progress we have seen from local treatments, the symptoms are building up faster than what the local help can provide. With that being said, Mom, as is her character, has researched and researched to find a treatment that is extensive, concentrated, and thorough enough to have a positive lasting impact. Recently we have been fortunate to make many connections with others who have been successfully treated in specialty clinics located in Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico. After hearing others’ success stories (given their similar symptoms), we started contacting these specialty clinics. We are thrilled to announce Mama Packer has been offered a spot to begin her first of 4 week-long treatments in the Mexico clinic. Her spot has been reserved for the week of April 8th, 2019.

Thorough and effective treatment comes with a price that we are unable to handle alone. We have had many friends and family members encourage us to start a fund for Mom. This fund now exists thanks to their (your) encouragement. We are doing all we can, but could use some extra support as Dad is in the midst of looking for new employment.
