My name is Margarita Medina Escalara. Named after my mother. On December 9th 2020, our family lost our wonderful, loving matriarch Margarita "Mama Maggie" Nunez Rodriguez. Since April 24th, she had been fighting an uphill battle after falling and breaking her hip. Her spirits high, she continued to press on. With help she began healing and continued her grandmotherly duties, like watching the cookie jar, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sneaking snacks and sweets to her little ones and helping with everything she could. This little lady was unstoppable. She seemed unstoppable even as she was going into surgery, but coming out something changed. "Mija, I'm ready to go. I see them, I spoke with them, I told them I'm ready to be with them." She said to my sister Lupé. As tears fell down her face my sister told her not to talk like that. We need her here and she has much more left to do. "I will try Mija... I will stay if I can. I still have more people to get in trouble, more ears to pull. I will try." but "Mama Maggie" was called home by Mama Mary and minutes into the feast day of San Juan Diego on the day after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Mama Maggie's trials in this world came to an end. Wearing her scapular, Margarita Nunez Rodriguez passed at 12:40 A.M. central time on the morning of December 9th in the year 2020. Survived by two daughters, four grandchildren, two foster-grandchildren and a whole community of family and friends who wouldn't hesitate to attest that one of God's most precious souls resided within the body of a little lady who loved her family, her friends and her cookies...

Friends, family and kind strangers, we are asking for help to give this wonderful lady, my mother, a proper funeral and burial. Whatever you can give would be most appreciated. Thank you all and may God bless you.

If you are Catholic, or you know a Priest or another Catholic who would know a Priest, my sister Lupe and I would very much appreciate everyone requesting that Roman Catholic masses be said for her soul. Our goal is 30 masses being said for Margarita Nunez Rodriguez.

Mi nombre es Margarita Medina Escalara. El nombre de mi madre. El 9 de diciembre de 2020, nuestra familia perdió a nuestra maravillosa y amorosa matriarca Margarita "Mama Maggie" Núñez Rodríguez. Desde el 24 de abril, había estado librando una batalla cuesta arriba después de caerse y romperse la cadera. Con el ánimo en alto, continuó presionando. Con ayuda, comenzó a curarse y continuó con sus deberes de abuela, como cuidar el tarro de galletas, hacer sándwiches de mantequilla de maní y mermelada, llevar bocadillos y dulces a sus pequeños y ayudar con todo lo que pudo. Esta pequeña dama era imparable. Parecía imparable incluso cuando la iban a operar, pero al salir algo cambió. "Mija, estoy listo para irme. Los veo, hablé con ellos, les dije que estoy listo para estar con ellos". Le dijo a mi hermana Lupé. Mientras las lágrimas caían por su rostro, mi hermana le dijo que no hablara así. La necesitamos aquí y le queda mucho más por hacer. "Intentaré con Mija ... Me quedaré si puedo. Todavía tengo más gente a la que meterme en problemas, más orejas a las que tirar. Lo intentaré". pero "Mama Maggie" fue llamada a casa por Mama Mary y minutos después de la festividad de San Juan Diego, el día después de la Solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción, las pruebas de Mama Maggie en este mundo llegaron a su fin. Con su escapulario, Margarita Núñez Rodríguez pasó a las 12:40 a.m. hora central en la mañana del 9 de diciembre del año 2020. Le sobreviven dos hijas, cuatro nietos, dos nietos adoptivos y toda una comunidad de familiares y amigos que no dudarían en dar fe de que una de las almas más preciosas de Dios residía en el cuerpo de una señorita que amaba a su familia, a sus amigos y a sus galletas ...

Amigos, familiares y amables extraños, estamos pidiendo ayuda para brindarle a esta maravillosa dama, mi madre, un funeral y entierro adecuados. Cualquier cosa que puedas dar será muy apreciada. Gracias a todos y que Dios los bendiga.
