With encouragement, I am reluctantly setting up this account. In October, I received the news that I have Thyroid Cancer. The left side has a small nodule that came back benign. The right side has a substantial tumor that is cancerous. This is a genetic gift from my biological dad. I only knew him for a very short while and was not able to find detailed information on his cancer before he died in December. The surgeon at Duke will send off the tumor for the pathology report on the type of thyroid cancer to determine if they have to go back into the left side and remove the entire Thyroid.
I have been fairly sick in dealing with the side effects of this cancer. This past Friday, I received news that there is a suspicious mass in my left breast. Breast Cancer runs pretty fiercely in the maternal side of my family.
My Hemithyroidectomy surgery is tomorrow morning at Duke Cancer Center. These new realities have put financial stress on our family due to the costs of travel, accommodations, inability for me to maintain a job. The pressure has been weighing heavily on Nik and me.
It is very difficult for me to have another GoFundMe as everyone has been so generous and supportive with the ones for Solomon.
I appreciate everyone who sends me and our family love and support. Life has truly given me a number of ass kickings and I am just trying to face these conditions, the side effects, and the treatments.
