Mama Emma Restaurant

Hi Friends and Family! As many of you know, Matt and I were fortunate enough to spend 2 years in the country of Malawi in Sub-Saharan Africa. While there we met so many wonderful people, including Lucy and her 2 kids, Kalvin and Emma. Over the years since we left Malawi we have kept in touch with Lucy and her family and helped her through a few hard times as school fees can be high and employment is not always a guarantee. Recently, in a FaceBook Messenger conversation Lucy mentioned that she wanted to start her own restaurant. As a restaurant owner myself, how could I not help her out? As you all know, financing restaurants, no matter where you live can be really hard, and near impossible in some cases. So, I asked Lucy for a plan and a budget - and boy did she provide! She sent me a beautifully thought out and realistic business plan that I am excited to help her with. Since many of you know and understand how hard starting a business can be, I thought this was a great chance to try a go fund me! So, I ask that you help me help this great Mama out. I have no doubt she will use this money to provide for her family and support her local economy along the way by buying food from local farms, hiring other women, and sharing her success with others along the way. I know there are alot of good charities out there, but this is a chance to really give directly to someone - a human that could use a chance. People like Lucy can change the world for the better. Let's get "Mama Emma's Restaurant" started in Lilongwe, Malawi! For $2,000 Lucy can buy the equipment she needs, pay rent and employees for 2 months, and start her dream of independence. My hope is that when I have the chance to go back in visit Malawi in a few years, I can go have a meal at Mama Emma's. Thanks everyone!
