Calypso Needs a Caudectomy (tail amputation)

Calypso's tail was recently ran over, breaking it in multiple pieces. There are bones exposed, which have recently become infected. The vet informed that the tail must be amputated in order to save her life and the life of her kittens. We quoted us about $1,400.
We cannot afford to pay this, and the vet recommended I surrender her to animal control to be put down. I cannot in my right mind do this to her. She is a ray of sunshine and a great mother, and she means the world to us.
We need to get the procedure ASAP as when the infection gets into her bloodstream, it will spread to her milk. If there is anything you can do to help, whether donating, sharing, or recommending a low cost vet, please do. Thank you very much!!
