MAMA BEAR film project - give hope to children

Hi, My name is Olia. I'm fundraising for my film project, titled MAMA BEAR. It's a dark fairytale that gives hope to children who live in violent households with substance abuse problems.

Our main character Mila is forced outside in freezing snow by her abusive alcoholic father. Little Mila meets a monstrous bear who takes her mom's body but gives her something in return...

Why this story?

Substance abuse is one of the top three causes of domestic violence in the world. Alcoholism is the main cause of crimes and domestic abuse in Eastern European countries. Thousands of children and women suffer every day but are too afraid to ask for help.

Growing up in the freezing temperatures of Siberia I witnessed terrible scenarios where mothers ran out in the cold with their children to escape their violent husbands. My mother and I were once forced out in the snow by our drunk grandfather who chased us with a gun. Standing on her bare feet to keep warm, I remember looking at my steamed breath and thinking “this is the end.”
