Mama Alicia battles Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
If you know my momma Alicia, "Ali", "mama"-- you know her LIGHT and how special she is.
Friends & family describe a true connection with my mama and have witnessed both her positivity and her true joy for life. Alicia is a riot, a true light, the best mama I could have ever asked for. Currently we ask for support.

On January 9th 2022 my mama, Alicia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer- unfortunately her cancer is large, aggressive and has already spread all over her liver and eaten through her small intestine creating large & dangerous ulcer. This is a terminal disease - Her only hope in extending life is Chemotherapy.
Her deductible for this year is $5,000 plus medication.

Our Current Journey
Mama Alicia is currently at home with us battling daily pain, exhausting nausea and a weak digestive track which limits her appetite and ability to eat. Between my husband Justin and I, we are round the clock caring for her. Mama has no other family here- we are it. It is no doubt hard - she is in pain yet we stay positive as much as we can. Justin and I both are are not only navigating through her home care but also currently facing major expenses- she has no income or a savings. We also MUST focus on keeping our lives running as much as possible- juggling our jobs, our household and being present for our 2 children. I too am pregnant- and my body HATES being pregnant; thankfully it is a healthy pregnancy so far.

Mama may be scared at times but she is ready to fight!
Mama is not scared of death- and tho the Dr has been realistic (life expectancy of weeks, months at most; her ulcer bleeding being most dangerous)
Mama understands the chemotherapy effects and is still ready to fight. Her motivation is meeting her newest grandchild this summer.
We are looking a major medical expenses, possible hospice care and wrapping our minds around her passing - as sad as that sounds it is very well a reality .

SO we PRAY for a miracle. We PRAY for comfort, less pain and we PRAY for her peace and her joy.
WE ask to surround her with as much love and light as possible.

Mama is blessed to have YOU- SO many friends and family that love her.
Mama also has lots of faith and she has a will to fight.

We ask for prayers and support as we begin the next step to her journey.

Caring Bridge page will keep you updated with her journey as it continues.

Her Journey so far
Mama started having abdominal pain in late September/early October of 2021. By Thanksgiving her appetite had decreased and pain was getting worse. Early December a sonogram detected problems in liver and MRI was scheduled for early January. After recovering from Covid over Christmas, mama' symptoms greatly increased. Barely able to eat, hold down her food, constant nausea, pain and eventually her skin started turning yellow. We took her into ER on that Sunday, January 9th--not only did we learn about her cancer but thankfully by the will of God, her medical team performed and emergency ERCP procedure that placed a stint near her bile duct that was being blocked by tumor. This relieved her pain a bit but most importantly saved her life.

Recently we have learned that more than 60,000 Americans are expected to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2021.. Pancreatic cancer is the 11th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. The pancreas is located deep in the abdomen, so doctors usually cannot see or feel the tumor during a physical exam. Also, pancreatic cancer symptoms are not always obvious and usually develop over time.
