Francoise has been working hard to build her food business Malty and Hoppy for the past few years. But like a lot of food entrepreneurs out there, she is THE business. Francoise was hit on her bicycle by a motorist in a vehicle. The accident has left her with double fractures in both of her legs, which means full leg casts. This is going to make the upcoming market and show season an impossibility for her.
If you are an entrepreneur, you know that not only do the first few years include a lot of long hours, blood, sweat and tears - they also include a long list of sacrifices. Things like time with friends and family, paid vacations (or even just vacations) and in most instances coverage like health insurance and critical illness are beyond our reach. The cost is too high and is often low down on the list.
With our support, she can hire someone to be her legs at markets and shows, to help her with production and whatever else she needs while she is recovering. This is the least we can do for an incredible Torontonian and business pioneer.
