Dearest friends and family,
It’s with a profound ache in our hearts that we share this news. For nineteen long months, we watched our incredible mother, Mally, face an unimaginable battle against acute myeloid leukemia (AML). From the moment of her diagnosis in September 2023, our lives became a delicate balance of hope and fear. The possibility of a life-saving bone marrow transplant felt like a distant star, with only a handful of potential matches identified across the globe, each unreachable in Thailand. Then, a moment that felt like a true blessing – her own son, my brother, emerged as that perfect match. A fragile hope began to bloom within us.
But leukemia is a cruel and relentless adversary. It found ways to evade the treatments, leaving Mally’s body weary despite our desperate efforts. We were confronted with the stark reality of borrowed time, perhaps only weeks or a few precious months if we couldn’t find a way forward. Yet, Mally, with a spirit that amazed us all, embraced a new experimental medication. Just weeks ago, a glimmer of light – the treatment appeared to be working, significantly reducing the cancerous cells. We dared to whisper the word "remission," dared to imagine a future with her.
And now, the unimaginable has happened. Despite her unwavering courage and the small victories we celebrated, Mally’s body, so tired from fighting, faced complications it simply couldn't overcome. Her beautiful heart, which poured out so much love to us all, finally found rest. Her passing was sudden, leaving a void in our lives that feels impossibly large and a silence where her laughter used to be. We are still grappling with the whys, the unanswered questions that linger in the quiet moments. But we hold onto the belief that she is finally free from pain, finally at peace.
Friends and family, we reach out to you now, our hearts raw with grief and our minds overwhelmed. The suddenness of Mally’s departure has left us unprepared for the financial burdens that accompany such a profound loss. All donations received will go directly towards covering funeral expenses, allowing us to honor her life and lay her to rest with the dignity she deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be a tangible expression of love and support, helping us navigate these difficult days.
More than any donation, though, we ask that you hold your own mothers, your own families, a little tighter tonight. Tell them how much they mean to you. Share a memory, offer a kindness, because life can change in an instant. And if you feel moved to share Mally’s story, please do, so that others might know the incredible woman she was and the love she gave so freely.
Thank you, from the depths of our broken hearts.
Mommy, every breath feels like a reminder that you’re not here. I keep replaying your voice in my head, wishing I could hear it just one more time. That last hug… if only I had known. But I know you fought so hard, not for yourself, but for us. You deserved a life free from suffering, and now you have it. Rest now, my sweet Mom. We miss you more than words can ever convey. Hailey, Elena, and I will carry your love with us always. We love you so, so much. ️
