My sister Malinda is an educator and divorced mom of three who was diagnosed with breast cancer in July. She has triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1, which is particularly difficult to treat, and she also carries the RAD51D gene which makes treatment more intensive, requiring lengthy chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and a hysterectomy. As anyone who has been through this experience can tell you, this all comes with a hefty price tag. We are hoping to raise some funds to help alleviate her out-of-pocket medical expenses so that she can focus on her recovery rather than the financial burden.
