Wicklow Hospice & Roundwood Cancer support

Hi There,

 

In July 2022, I’m planning to cycle the length of Ireland (600km) from Malin head to Mizen head (most southern point to northern point on the Island of Ireland) in under 24hrs. I would like to raise funds for the Roundwood Cancer Support group and the Wicklow Hospice. Unfortunately, my mum passed away on the 20th of November 2021 and these two charities were unbelievable in the care and support they gave my mum. The funds raised will enable them to continue to provide the unbelievable service and support to the community. I'm also doing this cycle in memory of my mum Betty Lawless.

 

The Roundwood Cancer Support (RCS) group organised transportation for my mum to and from the hospital for her operations & chemotherapy treatments. RCS offers counselling support to the patient as well as family members during those difficult times.

 

In the last few weeks of my mum’s life the Wicklow Hospice staff were unbelievable in the care and attention they gave my mum to ensure she was comfortable right up to the very end.

I would like to thank the Roundwood Cancer Support group & the Wicklow Hospice staff once again for such kind loving support they gave my mum.

 

The challenge / task

Starting at Ireland’s most southerly point Mizen head, I plan to cycle the length of Ireland and finish at Ireland’s most northerly point Malin head, in under 24hrs. The total distance will be just over 600km. This will be both a massive physical and mental challenge to maintain the pace and sustain energy levels, not to mention the pain in the bum from the saddle! I plan to do this cycle on the 15th of July 2022.

 

Fundraising / target

I have set up this “Gofundme” page so as to have one central location for all funds raised during this cycle event. 100% of all funds raised will be passed on to the charities. The total money raised will be divided equally between the Roundwood Cancer Support group and the Wicklow Hospice. I am hoping to raise €5,000 but please feel free to help me exceed this target : )
