A couple of weeks ago Malik was experiencing headaches and blurry vision, his family brought him to his Dr who then sent him for a CT scan. They saw that he had a blockage in his 4th ventricular space. Cerebral spinal fluid was backed up causing pressure and swelling from the mass. On May 8th Malik had to have emergency brain surgery. When biopsy / pathology results came back they showed that the tumor was cancerous but the MRI came back that the whole tumor has been removed.
Malik is still in ICU but he is in good spirits and recovering well. Once out of the ICU he may be required a little more time in the hospital. About a month after he gets home he will need to get radiation for 6 weeks to be sure that there are no residual cells left from the tumor.
He is such a sweet kid and he has had a rollercoaster of a life already. Throughout this whole thing all I can think about is how strong and lucky Malik is. It is miraculous that this was caught, especially so early, and treatment is going good so far.
He has had an army of support behind him and I have to believe all of that positive energy is making it his way.
Most importantly please keep him in your prayers and send him good energy!
As with any sudden unplanned situation like this, there has been and will be unplanned expenses to cover for Malik's whole family. If you are able to donate any amount at all it would be greatly appreciated.
Any funds left unused by the family will be donated to cancer research in Malik's name.
