The unimaginable has happened in one of the most iconic places on earth. My beautiful friend, Patricia Gentry Neuray ("Patsy" to many of us), has lost her home and every possession in Malibu, California this week, as wildfires tragically engulfed and destroyed her home and her entire neighborhood. She, with her husband, Dario, evacuated with only an hour's notice, clutching her two precious dogs and only a single bag of clothing. They expected to return the next day, as they have previously been through evacuations before. This time was different, as they returned to nothing but the remains of a bricked chimney and a lone green Christmas ornament that survived on a tree at the driveway to her home. She plans to hold tightly the ornament, as her beacon of hope.
