Maleia's Fight
Donation protected
I am starting this campaign on behalf of my sister-in-law, Sarah. Her sweet daughter Maleia Rae is in the fight for her life right now, and needs all the love and support she can get.
Maleia is a beautiful 10 year old little girl with a vivacious personality. She was born a month early weighing only 3.5 pounds. There was not enough amniotic fluid in the womb, which restricted her growth. She was then diagnosed with Down Syndrome. At 5 Months old she had to endure open heart surgery, but pulled through spectacularly, and went on to be the amazing, healthy little girl we know today.
Seemingly healthy that is, until Saturday, December 10th, 2016. She was at her grandmother's house with her big sister, Serenity, while Sarah was in the process of packing and moving. Maleia got a bloody nose, which continued for over an hour. Sarah took her to Urgent Care, and she was immediately transferred by ambulance to Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo. Upon arrival blood was drawn, testing ensued, and Sarah got the most devastating test results any mother could receive : Cancer.
Maleia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. She has been at Children's Hospital of Buffalo since December 10th undergoing a spinal tap and Chemotherapy, among other procedures. She has to stay in the hospital for at least 28 days. During this time she will have 3 rounds of Chemo. On the 27th of December she will undergo another spinal tap and testing to assess the progress of the Chemo.
Due to these unfortunate circumstances, they need our help. Sarah will be taking a leave of abcense from her work as she needs to be with Maleia. Of course she has Serenity at home too, so she has to split her time between the two, which means the cost of her commute to and from the hospital, plus parking. Medical bills are going to come. They are also in the process of moving.
Any little bit will help relieve some of the burden of money so Sarah can focus on Maleia. Prayers are very much appreciated. If a donation is out of reach for you, I ask that you please share Maleia's story.
Thank you to everyone for your support during this very difficult time for our family.
