MALDEN FIRE RELIEF
Donation protected
Urgent help needed.
On Tuesday a fast moving fire ripped through the small farming towns of Malden and Pine City, causing immeasurable loss of homes, crops, animals and security and burning some 17,000 acres. High winds blew for 14 hours, ensuring the fire could not be contained. They are still working to contain it five days later. I know this is a lofty goal but 200 people in Malden alone are looking at ashes where their house once stood. 80% of everything in that town is gone. They barely had time to evacuate. In the neighboring town of Pine City there is a massive, still smoldering pile of grain next to a burned out storage elevator as the farm community was nearing the end of the wheat harvest. What’s left of houses are still smoking. So many farmers, families, low income and elderly people need clothes, shoes, food, hygiene products, medications and everything else urgently and immediately. They have lost literally everything and I can’t begin to try to put words to how they are suffering mentally.
These people are traumatized, heart broken and without. It is my hope that we come together to provide them some comfort and security.
All of the funds raised from this campaign will be given directly to the Whitman County Community Fire Relief Fund via the United Way.
