Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit The Malcolm X Commemoration, on 5-19-20 and any donation will help make an impact!!! Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much!!!
Malcolm X prophesied “It is a time for martyrs now, and if I am to be one, it will be for the cause of brotherhood. That’s the only thing that can save this country.” Two days later he was assassinated.
Every year an interfaith pilgrimage floods Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Rd in Hartsdale New York, to pay homage to Malcolm X for his service to mankind. We come rain or shine with drums, prayers, tributes, poetry and chants, with flags and flowers. The morning of May 19th 2020 will mark the 55th pilgrimage led by Baba Professor Smalls, renowned African Studies Professor and student of Malcolm X. Over the last 10 years, Muslims have added our own commemoration “Al Ziyaara a’Shahadatayn,” The Visit to The Two Martyrs, an observance according to Islamic traditions of visiting deceased loved ones. Part of our sacred mission is to honor the legacy of perhaps the best-known American Muslim in the world, El Hajj Malik El Shabazz Malcolm X, and his beloved wife, Hajja Betty Bahia Shabazz. All are invited into Islam in the example of our hero. As the number of Muslim's attending the Ziyaara grows, it has become difficult for the Ziyaara planning committee to keep up with the costs of bus transportation, food and lodging for those who come from great distances to attend. It is necessary to provide iftar (breakfast) for this year’s Ziyaara which falls during the holy month of Ramadan. Believers and distinguished guests who attend the Ziyaara are invited to participate in iftar at the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood, located at 55 St Nicholas Ave in Harlem. At the Mosque we expect to receive words of inspiration from renowned scholars such as Professor Bilal Ware, Ustadha Aiesha Prime, Shaykh Kareem Yah Yah Coates, Shaykh Adiyinka Mendes and of course our own Mawlana Imam Hajj Talib Abdur Rashid. We need to raise a modest $3,000 to service our brothers and sisters. Malcolm X and Dr. Betty strove to unite people by tearing down the walls of discrimination. He said, “I am against every form of racism and segregation, every form of discrimination. I believe all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color.”
Let’s continue to honor their legacy by bringing together diverse faiths, and ethnicities to pray for their souls. We ask you to please contribute generously and attend the Pilgrimage and Ziyaara if you can.
Thank you and may God reward you with goodness.
