Hi all, my friend and coworker Malcolm Tyson was in a serious car accident after his dinner shift Sunday 8/3 and was brought to MUSC in Charleston. At the hospital, Malcolm required brain surgery with damage to his frontal lobe where they removed a part of his skull, has spent time in the ICU, and is still at the hospital recovering before he is sent into intensive physical therapy.
Malcolm has worked at Halls Chophouse for almost 4 years starting at the Columbia location before transferring to the flagship in downtown Charleston in 2024. In both Columbia and Charleston, Malcolm has maintained an infectiously positive attitude and is adored not only by his peers but by many guests he meets as well. Malcolm’s first month in Charleston, he was awarded the “Best Smile” superlative award not only because of his smile but because of how much joy it radiates from him onto everyone around him. Less than a year after transferring to Halls Charleston, Malcolm was awarded employee of the month. Malcolm’s peers and guests know him as “Big Steppa” as he’s always on the move, striving to do his best in everything he does whether it be giving his guests a 5 star experience or helping his teammates.
Outside of work, Malcolm is passionate about making music and his fitness journey. He has been making his own music for years and loves to share it with whoever will listen, which at this time are his nurses at the hospital. When he’s not making music or at work, you can count on him being at the gym every morning working toward a healthier future and sharing that journey to help motivate others.
Malcolm has touched so many people’s hearts and we want to help alleviate both his and his family’s stress at this time by raising money for his recovery. Anything you can donate is appreciated by the Tyson family, his Halls family, and all who love him.
