Help us teach women in Malawi to sew menstrual kits and start businesses! The need is real. There simply are no reliable menstrual supplies in rural Malawi. This creates many challenges, most notably, a drop in school attendance among girls. In May, 2016 some friends and I brought treadle sewing machines and material to three remote Malawi villages and taught 24 women how to sew Days For Girls reusable menstrual pads. Despite no electricity, these motivated women have begun sewing AND selling the kits! They have even opened a bank account! In November, we plan to purchase several more sewing machines and die cutters and fine tune the fabric supply chain as we continue to help expanded their businesses and create sustainable enterprises. Our partner, buildOn, tells us there are requests to teach in other rural communities in Malawi in coming months. Women earn an income and girls stay in school! Please help us make this happen!
