7000miles for £7000 MUMCo Challenge
Help the Malawi UK Military Community (MUMCo) raise funds for the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Healthcare workers in Malawi.
We are very much inspired by the incredible story of Colonel Tom Moore who has raised millions of pounds for our NHS Charities in the UK and a fellow Malawian SSgt Bruno Kantiki who recently fundraised for Malawi Healthcare workers.
To pay special tribute to these exemplary individuals and the healthcare workers all over the world, MUMCo wants to extend this spirit of generosity and warmth in a 7000 miles for £7000 MUMCo Challenge - COVID 19.
MUMCo is simulating carrying the cheque raised by Bruno Kantiki from the UK to Malawi - a distance of 7000 miles, and in so doing raise a further £7000.
Since COVID-19 is a global problem, the money raised through this challenge will go towards the costs of buying the much-needed PPE for healthcare workers in the poorest rural communities of Malawi in Africa.
It is just a matter of time that the country will experience a high rise of the spread of Coronavirus infection, which could lead to higher deaths if appropriate PPE is not made available to frontline Healthcare workers.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world lacking sufficient health equipment to cope with this COVID-19 crisis. Every life matter and the healthcare workers are pretty much on a "suicide mission to save innocent lives." These heroes are at a higher risk of infection.
