MALAQUIA`S FAMILY AFFECTED BY FLOODS IN BRAZIL
Donation protected
Our dear coworker, Keyla Malaquias, has been part of Luz Team for over 2 years. Tragically, her family has been hit hard by recent floods. 43 members of Keyla's family have lost their homes, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of Brazil, has been facing catastrophic floods since the last week of April. Millions of people have been sadly affected, most losing everything they own. More than 450 cities have been impacted so far, and Canoas is reported as the “top 1” with most people impacted according to recent government reports. Canoas is the Malaquia family's hometown, where most of the family lives. Their houses are underwater, and they have lost everything. They now face the uncertainty of what will happen when the water level drops. 17 houses belonging to Malaquia family members are completely submerged to the roof, impacting 43 members of this family alone. It's been over 14 days since they were evacuated/rescued from their homes, and they are still unable to return. When they return home, they will need everything to restart their lives: essential clothes, furniture, home appliances, construction materials, cleaning supplies, etc. That's why we are organising this fundraiser, aiming to make their burden less heavy when the time to restart comes. Every contribution can make a huge difference in their lives, especially because every Australian Dollar equals 3 Brazilian Reais. We thank you for your support and prayers.
