Malakai’s medical aorta correction and story

Hello, our names are Ashley and Ryan Eagon, and we are the privileged parents of little Malakai Jones Eagon. He is five-months-old, and he is our little fighter. We knew before his birth that he was going to need a major surgery to save his life. In basic terms, his intestines were not properly connected to his stomach. So, he needed the surgery to allow his digestive system to work properly so he could survive. Two days after he was born, that surgery was performed, and it went really well.

What we did not know, was that he also has a defect with his left aorta, which basically requires open heart surgery. Two days after Christmas is when it is scheduled. Malakai will have to stay in the hospital for at least a week following this surgery. And we are already drowning in hospital bills.

Due to the defect with his intestines, I, his mother, was in the hospital for nearly a month prior to his birth; and then he stayed in the NICU for two weeks, which was the shortest projected time for his stay. We are so proud of our little man. He is so strong for us. We can only hope he will heal and recover as quickly as he did with this surgery.

Unfortunately we have come to a point with the medical bills where we feel we should try to reach out for help. That is why we have chosen this route.
