Malaika School Supplies Fundraiser (30 for 30)
Tax deductible
Hello Friends! It’s my birthday on August 15th and this year for my 30th lap around the sun, I have donated my birthday to The Georges Malaika Foundation (Malaika).
About Malaika
Malaika is a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in New York City, founded in 2007 by Noella Coursaris Musunka, a Congolese/Cypriot model, humanitarian and Ambassador for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria. The grassroots nonprofit has a mission to empower Congolese girls and their communities through education and health programs.
The Malaika School is a free accredited primary and secondary school located in Kalebuka, in the Southeastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Malaika provides holistic and high-quality education to 340 girls, with a mission to empower and equip each student with the tools to become DRC's future leaders and community advocates. The curriculum is structured around daily classes in French and English, on subjects including math, science, information technology, health, and civic education. Art, music, theater and physical education are also a key part of the robust educational programming. Additionally, each girl receives two healthy meals a day and regular doctor check-ups.
Malaika is also dedicated to impacting the surrounding Kalebuka community. Malaika provides access to clean water for over 30,000 people in the community (17 wells and counting), provides parents with vocational classes, and the youth with access to amazing sporting facilities and programs.

My "30 for 30" Goal
As many of you know, I am immensely passionate about my beautiful country and it’s potential. This year, I've taken steps towards identifying and actively participating in collaborative initiatives focused on turning this potential into reality. Organizations such as Malaika foster opportunities for young Congolese girls to reach their full potential. In honor of this incredible organization, I've pledged to donate my 30th birthday to help support a mission that is making all the difference. My "30 for 30" goal this year, is to provide 30 or more amazing girls (who live just 30 minutes from where I was born) with all the school supplies needed for the upcoming school year. $50 provides one girl with a year of school supplies and I need YOU, my family and friends, to help meet and exceed this goal. Who's in with me?

Thank you in advance for your gift and your support in making this world a better place for our girls.
Peace be with you,
Vanessa
(All proceeds will be directly deposited to Malaika's Paypal account/All Contributions are tax deductible)
