Hi, I’m David. I recently visited Malaika Orphanage in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, and the experience stayed with me.
Malaika is home to 65 children, from 1-year-old toddlers to 17-year-old teens. They live in a building with no electricity, surviving purely on the kindness of others as they receive no government assistance.
The Challenge: A Setback of Hope
The team had planned to move the children to a safer property. The community rallied and raised the funds, but tragically, the builder disappeared with the money. This has left the children trapped in their current rundown building with no immediate way out.
Our Mission: Guaranteed Nutrition
While the housing situation is in limbo, we can ensure these 65 children never go hungry. We are raising funds specifically for Pick n Pay grocery vouchers.
Why vouchers?
• Transparency: 100% of your donation goes directly to food.
• Freshness: It allows staff to buy fresh milk, fruit, and vegetables in real-time.
• Dignity: It provides the center with a reliable way to manage their pantry.
A Lifeline for the Future
This isn’t just a one-off collection. My goal is to create a consistent lifeline. Whether a child is there today or arrives a year from now, they shouldn't have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.
Every Bit Counts
Whether it’s the cost of a single grocery item or a larger gift, any donation is deeply appreciated. Your kindness provides more than just food; it provides the fuel these 65 children need to grow, learn, and thrive despite their circumstances
