Malachai Coleman Memorial Fund

Donation protected
My name is Patrick Millar and I am the proud Uncle of Malachai Coleman. I have had the honor of knowing him for the past 18 years that due to recent tragic circumstances have been cut far too short. While we are still trying to put the pieces together, what we have experienced with Malachai over the last week and a half has been our worst nightmare.

This week the family has been left with no choice but to put Malachai on comfort care and let nature take it's course. Due to the trauma he endured his brain was left in an unsurvivable state. He will be missed more than words can properly express. He arrived at the ER in Sutter Roseville fighting for his life with multiple stab wounds. Due to the pending investigation, we don't/cannot have the full details, but what I can tell you is prior to this incident Malachai was doing the best he ever has. I hope to have more updates on the incident to help us unravel exactly what happened. We are shocked, horrified and in deep greif over his untimely passing.

He was a recent transplant to Bear River High School as a senior and has thrived there. He currently has straight A's in all his classes and is a beloved figure on campus already. His passion and empathy had him on a path to wanting to study nerobioligy in college next year. He was also a talented musician, snowboarder, philosopher and loved playing video games with his buddies.

His mother (my sister Erin) is beyond devastated, as are we all. Watching him fight for his life as hard as anyone possibly could has both broken us and given us such respect for the strength and love Malachai was all too ready to share with anyone he knew.

The talented staff at Sutter Roseville went to every possible length to save this young man's life and for that we will be forever grateful. However, there are some expenses to which his mother is unsure how to handle including his final burial/cremation, celebration of life, time off work to recover, memorial services and possible medical expenses not covered under his insurance plan.

As many of you know, our father passed in 2001 and we have yet to spread his ashes. Although he died right before he was born, Malachai always felt a strong and unexplainable connection to his Grandpa Jim and we are hoping to spread some of their ashes together in Hawaii. The last year or so Malachai has been wearing Grandpa Jim's Hawaiian style shirts almost daily and it just seems fitting that he helps him cross the rainbow bridge in the land of rainbows.

Any donations will go directly to Malachai's mom to help her take the next step in life, recover and honor her son in the best way possible.  Any extra funds will be used to create a non profit to benefit children overcome Trauma.

Please, hold your loved ones close, tell them you love them everyday, spread all the joy you can possibly muster and give big fat Malachai hugs (he gave the best)!

Much love and blessings to you all -

Patrick
