Hi. My name is Malachi Crutchfield and I am 15 years old.
On October 2, 2017 I took my first ballet class-- little did I know it would become my passion and, I hope, my life's work.
Fast forward six hundred days to now; my love for ballet, work ethic, and trust in God has led to me catching the attention of some of the best ballet schools in America, and I find myself on the precipice of unmatched opportunities.
I am currently training at the pre-professional Ballet Academy at Suzanne's School of Dance in College Station, as well as performing for the last two seasons with Ballet Brazos .
In just the last few weeks I have been offered two unparalleled training opportunities for this summer. The first is with the Cosmopolitan Ballet Theater in Washington, DC, under the direct training of their founder, Irina Vakhromeeva, who has her Master's degree from Vaganova Ballet Academy and is a PhD candidate at the Bolshoi. The second opportunity is with America's national ballet company, American Ballet Theater , at their summer intensive in Austin, Texas.
Both programs have generously offered me partial scholarships, but there are many additional expenses. My dad is a paramedic in Houston and the sole income-provider for our family of five, while my mom works full-time homeschooling me and my two younger sisters. Despite my parent's hard work and devotion to their kid's success, we do not have the extra money needed for me to take advantage of these two opportunities
The funds I raise will cover the remaining tuition, accomodations, meals, travel expenses, uniforms, and multiple pairs of ballet shoes I will need. Any donations I receive beyond my goal will be going into an account to cover my future training expenses, and I will be updating everyone on my progress this summer on here as well as Facebook
I can't do this without your help, so I'm taking a 'Leap of Faith'.
Yours truly--
Malachi
