Mal Fletcher Media Mission

I’m Mal Fletcher. I’ve spent more than 30 years, supported by our charity, presenting futurist commentary in mainstream media around the world, on the BBC, Sky, ABC, CNBC, SABC and many others.

As a futurist and social commentator, I’m asked to contribute to many programmes and online platforms each year. My goal has always been the same: to present proactive faith-based worldview in the context of the biggest issues of our time.

Not many people do what I do and right now, I need your help. I’m increasingly asked really urgent questions about the impact of emerging technologies on human identity, thinking, behaviour and ethics.

Please take a moment to watch my short video on this page. It outlines some of the hugely important questions I’m asked and how effective the work has been!

We need to reach our target by the end of April 2020.

Most of the media work is unpaid. Why do I do it? For me, this is more than a public service; it is a mission.  We need to engage our world at the level of its own questions, just as St. Paul did on Mars Hill. ( See samples below.*)

My experience, first as a national youth leader in Australia, then as a futurist and a Christian leader working across Europe and beyond, has taught me this: nothing shapes people’s opinions and choices like media. And nothing shapes the future like choices made today!

How will donations be used? We want to allocate approx £3,000 for new research; £10,000 for commentary (including writing and prep); £2000 for a new web interface and media representation (to grow our contacts with the audience, producers and journalists); £2000 to help underwrite webinars and other training events, to equip younger people for this kind of media engagement; £2000 for publication of material (e.g. a new book on major issues); £1000 for some basic travel costs (such a big part of media commentary - even in the digital age!).

You might think, "What I can give won't help very much," but we've learned how to make even a little go a long way. Every donation is helpful, every donation is hugely appreciated.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for watching the video. (Please support us.) Bye for now.
