As a high school sophmore enrolled in the Science and Tech program, Makiyah was recently accepted to participate in the Summer Humanities program at Christopher Newport University, in Newport News VA!
While many students wait for an invitation to such programs, Makiyah did not. She was determined to utilize her resources at school to find a summer program that would propel her to the next level. CNU is ranked fifth among public regional universities in the South and 14th among all regional universities in the South. They provide outstanding academic programs, encourage service and leadership within the community, and provide opportunities for student involvement in nationally and regionally recognized research and arts programs. All of which blend nicely with what Makiyah has been learning as a middle-schooler, then high-schooler, and overall as a Pathfinder.
Not one to pass up a challenge, Makiyah also successfully tested into the Advanced Placement (AP) program at her school, which would allow her to enroll in college courses for credits. She is really excited about the dual enrollment opportunity and looks forward to challenging herself in Math, Science, History, and Latin!
By God's grace she continues to rise higher and higher in her studies, and I ask you to partner with me today in sending her off to Christopher Newport University for the summer to learn more about the Humanities and Leadership! The program runs from June 18 - 30, 2017. Cost of the program is $5,000, which includes room, board, and meals. Funds are due immidiately - so ALL DONATIONS ARE GRATELY APPRECIATED!!!
Thank you so much,
Stacey
