Hi, my name is Karessa, and I am trying to raise the $10,000 needed for my 16-year-old sister, Makinna’s, emergency ear surgery in California. Makinna was born with a missing ear (Microtia), and when she was 3 years old she traveled to Los Angeles, California where she received 3 separate ear reconstruction surgeries and, a new ear. This week, that ear broke in half and punctured her skin irreversibly, without surgery. The surgeon said it is emergent and MUST be immediately removed and replaced. She and my mom must be there, for 10 days, the first week of March to have this surgery. My parents are both high school teachers and my sister is a 10th grade honor student, about to attend her first prom in April. So, this news has been very shocking for everyone, especially Makinna. She knows she will have to look much different for her prom than she expected, that my mom will have to miss a week of work without pay, and that we have mere days to gather more than $10,000, rather than 3 years, like the first surgery.
We never thought she would have to get a major surgery done while in the middle of her tenth grade year of high school. I know times are tight for everyone, but if you are able to do anything at all to help my sister, I know it would mean the world to her, my parents, and to me. Thank you so much for your support and prayers.
Please share this with your friends and family, if it is on your heart to do so.
