I go by Mason (and I hope with a little help it will legally be my name). I am a 25 year old transman, who started my transition almost 2 years ago. Trans is only one word of many that I use to describe myself. I am a hardworking, loyal, fiancé, and father. 

My son is not biologically mine, I came into his life when he was 2, and he (on his own) started calling me dad. It was hearing him call me dad, and the encouragement of my beautiful fiancée, that finally gave me the strength to start becoming the real me. 

I have been through a lot in my life, and something I rarely do is ask for help, so I’m not quite sure how to go about it; but here I am. I am the sole support for my fiancée and son. I work full-time so that the two of them will want for nothing in this world. I take care of mine, and would never complain about it. I am grateful for the home I have, the dapper little boy who wants to dress like me, and the amazing woman who has stood by me through it all. 

I want to get top surgery and be able to legally change my name. Both of those things cost quite a bit of money, and I do not want my needs to hinder my son and fiancée’s, so I am asking for help. 

I want to marry my fiancée looking on the outside as I am on the inside. I want to take my son to the beach and be able to take my shirt off. I want my son to not cover his chest because he sees daddy doing it. 

I am proud of who I am. I think I am proof that anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad. I ask for help, and I appreciate you even reading this.
