Umberto Baculo - Help us fight Cancer

This is Umberto Baculo, our dad. Not only is he an incredible dad to 3 women but also grandpa to 2 more amazing girls.  No matter the distance, time, or problem, our dad has always, ALWAYS been present in our lives. He is always early for birthdays with thoughtful gifts and cards. He is always happy to hear our voices and the daily greetings usually include our trademarked pet names “Sessa”, “Sissa”, and “Inky”. He is an attentive, loving, and intelligent man, but like any human, has made mistakes. He spent 20 years in correctional facilities because he pleaded not guilty to a non-violent crime, and paid for it with his time. There wasn’t a day that would go by without call, a letter, or sending us something he created. He is, and has always been a great man in every position as dad, husband, brother, son and friend, being a powerful mentor and our rock.

After his release, Dad spends his days taking care of everyone, soft-spoken with a great mind and gentle demeanor.  Spending days with him, being able to call him whenever, see him, feels like new exciting experiences for us.  Now it just felt like it was about making up  for lost time…

Recently, he complained his legs were hurting, looking at them they seemed swollen, so we took him to the hospital. They found blood clots in his legs that were a side effect from Stage 4 Cancer they later found in his Pancreas. Cancer. That word is scary. For anyone.

Dad taught us how to take vitamins and sang songs about “Beta-Caro-teneeee”, never smoked or did anything unhealthy. How?

So now here we are, in a moment where the whole world is changing…our little family world is transforming as well. 

Over this time, we will be instilling a lot of lifestyle changes for dad as well as for our family.

We will be using conventional medicine, as well as, less conventional but successful holistic methods…along with a lot of love, laughing, talking, home cooked meals and sunsets by the ocean. 

As it turns out, that aside from being unbiased, cancer is also expensive. 

We humbly ask that if you are in a position to help us treat our Dad, that you do so with a lot of love and positivity, knowing that you are helping us create a better life for him.

We vow that any unused funds will go to helping research into cancer and helping educate people on ways that they too can help.
