Making the cut! For the Brain tumor foundation of Canada.
Hello!
my name is Miranda McGhie and my sister Megan Wright (photo above) lost her battle to brain cancer, suddenly at the age of 29 on June 17th 2024. Megan was the most amazing and caring human I have ever met. With a young baby girl, only 18 months old, this sudden loss has changed everything for my family.
Sadly there isn't a lot of treatment options for Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) which breaks my heart. My little sister deserved to live, and because science just isn't where we need it to be, she was considered terminal. We didn't have a lot of warning about this prior to May 12, 2024 - which was the day she went into the hospital for what we thought was a "migraine" - the few weeks following were the hardest weeks of my family and Megan's life.
There was nothing anyone could have done to help my beautiful sister, but I have decided to cut off 12-14 inches of my hair, to donate to a non-profit organization called "Chai Lifeline Canada" which will help make wigs for people with cancer & hair loss illnesses. I am trying to raise some money, alongside donating my hair, to donate to the "Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada" in her name. I know times are tough right now for everyone, so regardless of the money I make I will still be donating my hair.
I will upload proof of my haircut as well as the donation to the brain tumor foundation of Canada. Sadly they were not signed up to a GoFundMe so I wasn't able to put them as a beneficiary to this account, but I will be providing proof of my donation.
I'm so heartbroken I couldn't do anything to save my sister's life, but I hope this donation will help someone in the future.
I love you Megan - this is for you.
