Making Mom's Wish Come True

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to ask for kindness and assistance in making my mother's "post-op" dream a reality.

My mother, Melinda, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis early 2015. She fought for 5 hard years up until the day of her passing.

On June 19th, 2020, my mother passed away peacefully. Many people prayed and hoped desperately that she would receive the gift of lungs. She did receive 3 calls on separate occasions informing her that the doctors received lungs which they believed could work for her, however, after testing, the doctors didn't find the lungs to be a suitable match. My mom continued to fight until her lungs couldn't work on their own anymore. The doctors, ultimately, had to connect her to an ECMO machine. This machine removed her blood, oxygenated it, and returned it to her body. Once she was put on the machine, the struggle became too much for her.

I wish my mom were still here. I wish they could have found the perfect lungs for her body. However, I understand that my mom couldn't fight anymore. Her decision to let go was extremely difficult to accept, but I respect her choice. She said she was at peace with her decision, and I will find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering.

My mom became ill before she retired. She never got a chance to enjoy retirement. She will never get to travel with my dad as they had hoped. They had so many plans, vacations, and dreams together. It is heart breaking to think that these dreams will never become a reality. However, I want to put forth my best effort towards helping my dad live out some of their dreams.

In a conversation before my mom's passing, I asked her "Mom, what is the first thing you want to do once you're healed from the lung transplant surgery?" Without hesitation, she said "I am going to rent a house on a lake for a month and stay there with your dad. I want to wake up and sit outside, drinking my coffee, while looking at the water. Your dad can go fishing all day."

The reason I am asking for financial help, is because I would love to help make this dream true. I want to find a nice house by a lake somewhere in Michigan and rent it for a few weeks. I will accompany my dad and do all the things we think my mom would have loved to do. My brothers also plan to join us during the weekends. I know our mom will not be there physically, but she will be there with us in spirit. She will be next to us and enjoying the time by the water. (On the day she passed, she told us that whenever we are by the water, she will be there with us. Sitting next to us, enjoying the warmth of the sun.)

I wish I could cover the expenses entirely, but it's much more expensive than I can afford. Since I've come back to America, I haven't worked because I've spent my time helping my parents. Also, I couldn't risk working during the coronavirus pandemic because I was terrified of getting my mom sick.

My mother and father share a birthday. July 13th. This will be the first time in over 45 years that they won't be able to celebrate it together. I would love to give this trip to my dad as a gift. A vacation that he can use to celebrate the lifetime he spent with my mom.

Therefore, I am reaching out and asking for help. Anything you could donate would be immensely appreciated.

I realize how blessed I am to know such loving and kind hearted people. Whether it be prayers, kind words, hugs, comments, messages, or phone calls....you have all brought me comfort during these past 5 years. I am humbled and grateful for the support I've been provided, and I am always thankful for you.

For anyone who donates, thank you, thank you, thank you! My family will never forget your kindness.
