My beautiful older sister Kirsty has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cervical Cancer. Understandably, this has rocked us all as a family, especially for her three children, Logan, Grace and Evlyn and Fiancée Richie.
Through this laugh or cry situation, we have decided that we have cried enough… so now it’s time to laugh!
If we can raise a bit of money on the way to make her treatment a bit more comfortable, this is our aim! Regardless, this will be a nice place to share news and updates for anyone who would like to follow her journey.
About Kirsty
Kirst is 42. Way too young to be dealing with all this but Richie has held her hand throughout.
Her three children, Logan 21, Grace 19 and Evlyn 13 are devastated by the news but will be her biggest supporters through this all.
She is the oldest of 3 sisters, middle is me (Nina), and youngest is Bec. Our mum, Tracy, is the rock of our family and keeps us all in check.
About the cancer
Well… the whole reason for this is of course, the dreaded C word that’s caused all this agg.
She has been diagnosed with Non HPV Cervical Cancer. This means, unfortunately, it was missed by the NHS cervical screening program that is designed to catch 95% of cases. Typical that Kirsty had to be the anomaly and because of this, by the time we have caught it, it’s a bit gnarly and already spread locally and caused some bother!
Following the appointment with her Consultant this week, we have had the news that although very locally advanced, we are treating this little bastard with the intent to cure!
*cue massive sigh of relief*
This treatment is gonna be 3 months of intensive chemo and radiotherapy. As a result of this, along with other unsavoury side effects, Kirsty will lose her hair. As young and naive children, us three sisters made a pact that if any of us had to lose our hair for anything health related, we would all do this together.
*cue sharp intake of breath in regret*
Despite Kirsty protesting against us doing this, me and Bec are going to cut our hair off in support and solidarity of our sister. I have personally always admired the uncle fester look so buzzing for this (pun intended)
Kirst and Bec both have gorgeous long hair, so will be donating this to The Little Princess Trust.
Any money would be appreciated. Any shares would be amazing! And thoughts and prayers for her through this time would be incredible ❤️
