We are "52 Builds", a team of Film & Television scenery builders putting our workshops and skills to use building Intubation Boxes for frontline healthcare workers fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. We have donated over SIXTY of these boxes already and your donations can help us keep buying the materials needed to manufacture them!

Simply put, this Intubation Box protects doctors from patient-to-doctor transmission at the most dangerous moment of care: the placing of the ventilator tube into patients in intensive care. This new reusable design has already been replicated and used widely by hospitals in this crisis, and we have already made and delivered 10 boxes, including deliveries to Elmhurst Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital and the greater New Rochelle Hospital system.

What does your donation go towards?
--The building material for this project is 3/16th plexiglass, and we have been accepting donations of material or the funds to purchase it. 500$ buys us enough material to make 5 of these boxes, and pays for basic travel expenses picking the materials up and delivering the boxes. The sooner we get the funds, the sooner the doctors get the boxes.
Excess donations above 2500$ will be used to make more boxes, and any remainder left after the project is concluded will be donated to the Direct Relief charity, which helps communities in crisis and is currently focused on similar efforts to get PPE to healthcare workers.

Who are we?
--A small team of six members of the I.A.T.S.E. Local 52 Union who work in film and television construction, we have free time and valuable skills sitting idle due to the film industry being entirely shut down during this crisis. We wanted to put our skills to use, and the Union has generously offered to let use their workshop to do so. We are proud to be union members and happy to be volunteering our time and skills.

UPDATE:
We have exceeded and raised our fundraising goal, with the project now in full swing making and delivering large quantities of boxes. We have found new sources of plexiglass and have found demand as far as New Jersey and Philadelphia, so with your continued support and donations we can continue work as long as we are able.
