Making Dreams Come True through Education
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vanessa and I'm a student in Lira, Uganda. My dream is to become a pharmacist and help the people in my home country. I have dreamed of being able to study in the US. My dream is soon coming to be a reality. I have been accepted to Alverno College starting in the Fall of 2023. While I have received an academic scholarship, a significant portion of the tuition still remains. I do not have the ability to fund this entire amount. Where I live, many families live in huts, with no electricity or running water. The average monthly income in Uganda is under the equivalent of $70 USD. I would really appreciate any financial support that you are willing to give to help complete my education in the United States.
My dream to become a pharmacist began with the work I have done with Medical Aid to Northern Uganda (MANU), a medical team from the United States that provides medical support to villages near my home. I helped the team translate English into the local Lango language and to dispense medications. I have enjoyed working with the team and hope to do more. This is why I am pursuing a pharmacy education in the United States. I believe this program in addition to the cultural diversity and broad perspectives I will gain through an education outside of my home country will prepare me best to make a big impact on the lives of those in my community in Uganda. My country has a high poverty and illiteracy rate, especially in women with more than 1/3 of women giving birth to their first child by age 18. This is why this the opportunity to study in the United States means so much to me. It is not only about the impact this could have on my life but the ripple effect my education could have on the whole community.
Please help me create a wave of good! Thank you!
