What would it look like if we went to the heart of our region, took a public space - transformed it, and invited everyone to come by anytime to find community? We make it inviting, chic, simple. We show people we love them (no strings attached) with every authentic interaction. We don’t pretend to have all the answers but we point them to the grace, love, joy and peace that can only come from our Creator. We give generously, because we know that this life isn’t all about us, and we go outside of our comfort zone to bless others both in this region and abroad. We strive to grow in our faith and live differently because of encountering Jesus.
COMMON GROUND MINISTRY will provide a meeting place for the community, support groups, Bible studies and book clubs all day and several evenings during the week (as we’ve found there are many that are not able or willing to attend traditional services on Sunday mornings).
We make the space feel like one big European living room with cozy conference rooms.
One night a week we offer COMMON GROUND, a time of biblical teaching and reflection and community building as well as optional small groups. We support others both here and abroad through financial contributions and support teams.
Other evenings, the space would be available for support and recovery groups as well as other ministries & community events that align with our vision.
The hope would be to launch this summer the second layer - when during the day the space welcomes people from all over as “VENDELLA euro boutique and coffee co.”, a top-notch coffee shop and boutique and meeting space.
What’s next? We build it.
All of the information I’ve gathered shows we need $90K to get this up and running. Licenses and fees, permits, registrations, architectural drawings, salary, walls coming down/up, electrical, plumbing, ceiling, lights, carpet, marketing, furniture, stage and equipment, security system, technology, administrative equipment & programs, etc.all add up. We can start without all of this finished, and we will, but to make this a place for the community to gather will require the work. (I’ve attached some vision photos above/below for reference)
We are also looking for furniture (light colored and clean lines), equipment, and helping hands to cut down on costs.
If for any reason this does not come to fruition, donations would be distributed by the board of directors to local and global charities/ministries/organizations that best align with this vision. SAGE PRAIRIE COMMUNITY SERVICES donations are controlled solely by the COMMON GROUND board of directors.
*alignment & accountability with Evangelical Covenant Church affirmations, credentialing with International Ministerial Fellowship.
