Making Amber's House Accessible
Donation protected
Aloha Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Amber lost her husband and best friend, Stuart Ing, unexpectedly on Monday, January 23. She now faces another transition in her life, moving back to Arizona to be closer to her family and friends and settling in with her brother, Aaron, and his fiancé, Kira. This move is not "turn-key" and presents challenges that we are turning to you, our friends and family, to help with. The bedroom, bathroom and outdoor access must be modified to accommodate Amber's wheelchair to give her as much independence as possible.
Here is a summary of what needs to be done and what funds raised will pay for:
·Replace shower with wheelchair accessible roll-in shower.
·Replace bedroom window with patio door for backyard accessibility.
·Replace bathroom counter with lowered, roll-under style counter.
·Replace toilet with high-rise toilet.
·Widen bathroom closet door to accommodate a wheelchair.
·Two ramps for front door and patio door wheelchair access.
·Ship Amber's car and belongings from Hawaii to the mainland.
·Move 3 fur babies to Phoenix
We hope you support Amber’s transition to Arizona with a contribution that feels right and meaningful to you.
Aaron has set up a seperate account that will be used to pay for upgrades, moving expenses etc. and will be in charge of paying for those expenses.
A little more about Stuart, and the partner Amber lost. Stuart was a Hawaii native, living his 44 years in and around the island of Oahu with his tightly-knit family which included his sister Sherri, his mother and father, Joanne and Lawrence and of course, Amber, his wife of the last 13 years. He was an attorney by profession and possibly the biggest hockey fan ever to grace the Hawaiian islands! Stuart, more commonly known as "Stu" was also a culinary connoisseur of sorts and was true to his roots by always traveling with his trusty rice cooker. Stu's humor was dry, deliberate, quick-witted and a little twisted at times and always made you think and LAUGH. He was extremely smart and had a view of the world that was based on what is right, what is realistic and what is fair. He never backed down from a war of wits, and more often than not won. He had a fondness for animals who responded and reciprocated love. He was an urban gardener with an impressive green thumb. He was a loving son, husband, sibling, friend and colleague and was taken way too early from those that encircled his life. He will be missed by all of us.
The funeral for Stuart Ing will be a celebration of his life.
