Making a difference in Sharon Caron's life

Donation protected
Over two years ago Sharon started to have some trouble with balance, walking on the lawn in her backyard or over uneven surfaces.  Since the early stages of these symptoms, she has been gradually finding it more difficult and impossible to do all of the things you and I take for granted in our everyday lives.  Consulting endless doctors and enduring countless tests  has consumed the last two and a half years of Sharon and Steve's lives.  Unfortunately, they are still no closer to a definitive diagnosis or medicine for  what Sharon is fighting.   As you can imagine, this is additional stress both emotionally and financially.  Currently,  Sharon has been diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS).  This is a rare, neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness in the voluntary muscles.  PLS belongs to a group of disorders known as motor neuron diseases.  There is no single test that confirms a diagnosis of PLS.  In fact, because the disease can mimic signs and symptoms of other neurological diseases such as ALS, it makes this disease that much harder to diagnose and effectively treat.

Sharon has recently had to leave her job of 28 years.
The act of just getting ready for work is more than she can manage in a day.  Something we all take for granted as no big deal is now a huge undertaking.  At this point, Sharon and Steve are reorganizing their lives to make it easier for Sharon's new reality.  This includes making changes and somewhat remodeling their home to help Sharon more easily manage her needs and eliminate having to use the stairs.  All of these added expenses including additional medical equipment and needs for Sharon while losing her income.

As Steve and Sharon’s children, Matt and Ashley are stepping in to help however they can, and it is hard for them to watch their parents, and especially their mother, struggle during this hard time. This has prompted them and the whole family to reach out to the community and their family and friends for help.

The purpose of this GoFundMe page is to help raise money for in-home care for Sharon while Steve is at work.  This  will also help fund some of equipment and changes necessary to support the challenges of simple tasks for Sharon.  The cost of in-home care while Steve is at work is something none of us would ever want to face. This is now a major challenge for Sharon and Steve.  Your financial contribution and support of their family and friends will allow them to continue to find medical answers, manage everyday life and bring a hopeful relief to some of the unknowns that they still face.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and we send out our sincerest thank you.  Not all help has to be monetary.  If you or anyone you know can help in anyway, please reach out to me with your thoughts and ideas.
