Maki Needs Urgent Care for Suspected Cancer
Donation protected
I took Maki to the vet on Tuesday June 10th for a xray of her chest because she has consistingly wheezing at least one a day the past month. It used to be only ever so often or hardly ever. Based on the increased frequency I made her the vet appointment. We assumed she had potentially asthma or some bronchial problems which needed to be treated. Doctor looked at the xrays and saw what appeared to be a mass, presumably fatty tissue she could not say for certain so sent it off to a radiologist for further evaluation. I received the news back this Tuesday June 17th and it was not good. My heart is shattered. Keep in mind Maki is only 6 years old. She'll be 7 in August. The findings indicate Maki has a soft tissue mass in her lungs that is also in contact with her heart and thoracic inlet. Long story short it is suspected to be thymoma or thymic lymphoma. Both of which are cancer.
Given how young she is I'm absolutely devastated. I don't usually like to reach out for help, but I have a very high mortgage and live on my own, plus my other two cats have medical conditions(thankfully knock on wood they have been incident free!) that require daily medication and expensive prescription food. I do not have a lot of funds saved due to this and what I do have is very low.
Maki needs to see a specialist forba ultrasound or cr scan with a biopsy. No vets have openings until at least July 16th. I cannot wait that long if this truly is cancer. My poor girl keeps sneezing, having back spasms, some breathing difficulty and diarrhea. She is not acting like herself either, she hides and sleeps alot. Thankfully she is still eating and drinking and alert but due to the potential severity of the situation I will be taking her to Oceanstate ER tomorrow. For now I will put what I can on my care credit, but I fear I will struggle to pay it off alone due to the high cost I anticipate for testing and treatment. If it is truly cancer given it's location and severity radiation and surgey likely won't be an option. If it is I will update this later.
Please if you can spare any amount small or big, Maki, me and her two sister Silmeria and Anya will really appreciate it. Keep us in your thoughts and thank you so much for your consideration.
