Hello everyone,

Following the announcement of a parliamentary by-election in Makerfield, I believe it is vital that voters have the option to support a candidate who is willing to challenge the government and stand up for local constituents.

Labour have shown a clear disregard for the concerns and interests of the people of Makerfield, choosing instead to use them as a vehicle for the personal ambitions of Andy Burnham.

In a contest widely billed as a contest between Labour and Reform, it is crucial that voters are given a choice that rejects both socialism and nationalism, placing personal freedom at the forefront of principle and policy.

It is not an understatement to say that our civil liberties are at stake — from the erosion of the right to jury trials, to the expansion of facial recognition surveillance, and the growing reach of legislation such as the Online Safety Act. These developments set a dangerous precedent and must be challenged.

To stand as a candidate, the Libertarian Party is required to pay a £500 deposit. We also intend to leaflet the entire constituency, hence the total target of £1200. Any funds raised will be used entirely for these purposes.
