Makenzie Violet Pelc has been a fighter this far since receiving the devastating news. As you all know Kenzie’s medical team found a mass on her brain. Since they’ve found this mass Kenzie and her family have been through ups and downs with all the tests. They did find an additional “mass” on the posterior ribs but her medical team does believe it is unrelated to the mass in her brain. Thank Goodness!!
The night of Wednesday, January 17th Kenzie had small set back and ended up needing to be emergently intubated (breathing tube) and drain placed to help relieve all the pressure on the brain. She has been so strong and brave through the whole process.
On January 19th “Surgery Day to remove brain mass”. The surgical team was quick, seamless and most importantly successful with no complications. Kenzie’s doctor also reports that initial patho shows non-cancerous pilocytic astrocytoma grade 1 which is the absolute best news we could have asked for right now. Kenzie and her family will have to wait for the final pathology report to know they are for sure out of the woods for her brain mass. Now for rest and continued healing over the weekend.
Monday January 22nd will be another busy day as her surgical team plan to biopsy her mass on the posterior ribs to make sure nothing more is going on.
