Makeni Needs a Library - Let's Build it Together
Donation protected
At Katuba Literacy and Outreach Centre, we believe that every child deserves access to books and a safe reading space.
We are a registered Zambian NGO (RNGO 101/1569/2021) working to promote literacy and ensure access to reading materials in under-resourced communities. Through book donations, and reading clubs, we’re planting the seeds of literacy across Zambia. But we want to do more—and we need your help.
In 2024, we began building a 65sqm community library in Makeni (Londola community), Lusaka, an area with no library facilities and limited access to reading materials. This library will provide:
- A safe space for children to read and study
- Homework and study support for local school learners
- Access to books and learning materials for the entire community
- A hub for our literacy outreach programmes including reading clubs
- A distribution hub to donate books to other parts of the country
Currently, the structure is halfway complete. We urgently need to raise funds to finish the roof, build ablution facilities, and furnish the space for community use.
Your donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to opening the doors of Londola-Makeni’s first community library.
Please donate today and share this campaign with friends and family. Together, we can build a space that empowers minds and transforms futures.
