MAKING MELISSA SMILE
Donation protected
I am once again reaching out to family and friends for some help if you are in a position to do so. About a year and a half ago this GoFund me page was created to help my friend Melissa. You could read the original story below. The money we were able to raise with the page went a long way in helping her with some daily expenses while recovering at that time. Fast forward to present day where Melissa has been forced to go off of her oral chemo treatment for a whole new treatment plan. This new plan is not as nice to her system as the previous one and requires her to make trips for IV treatments bi-weekly. The following are Melissa's words about her current situation...........
My life has changed so much in the past few months. For starters, the oral chemo which I had a zero co-pay for stopped working. I was placed on 2 types of IV Chemo which I have been receiving bi-weekly for 3 months and will now have a co-pay on them, as well as a percentage of the costs involved with the use of the infusion room plus the staff and any other medication needed each time. The current charges are between $13,000.00 & $17,500.00 bi-weekly. In addition to those costs it seems the oral chemo I was previously on has damaged my teeth. In December I had to have 1 tooth pulled and I still have 21 cavities which I have no money in my budget to take care of.
Now that my son Anthony has graduated and since turned 18 I will lose the disability money that I was getting to care for him. He will be attending college at Kean in September and although he has a part time job to help take care of his needs and my 77 year old Mom is working part time, I most likely will not have complete rent money until I am able to find a work at home job through the disability department. This has been put on hold several times due to my weakened state since I am now getting sick at every chemo treatment. I am extremely worried that soon I will not be able to afford a roof over our heads with the added expenses and poor health.
I would appreciate any help that you could give me weather it is in the form of coupons, gift cards or funds. I have to watch certain products due to other health issues as well as allergies and asthma.
Rosie has set up an Amazon wish list including some of the products I could use here If not a gift card from the following places would be very much appreciated.
• Target
• Walmart
• Shell
• Acme
• Shoprite
* postage stamps
There are three ways you could help Melissa if you are inclined to do so.
1) You could donate directly to the go fund me page here.
2) You could mail me a gift card (and believe me even a $5.00 food store card will go a long way). Send it to me at 19 Fox Hill Road, Edison, NJ 08820.
3) You could copy and paste this link to visit an Amazon wish list that I set up for Melissa https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/NWFNKMXMZM1E/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1
send her a product or two that will get delivered right to her door. Every single bit, no matter how small will be a great help to her.
Help spread the word!

This page has been set up to help out my friend and sister Avon Representative Melissa. A friend who is ALWAYS helping others finds herself in a position that requires her to be off of her feet for quite a few weeks. Melissa has cancer and needs surgery to remove her 18th tumor which is over 2 inches long in her femur. A titanium rod with pins and screws needs to be inserted through the femur with subsequent physical therapy followed by radiation. After the surgery she will be put on a new Chemo treatment as this last one stopped working and some of the tumors in her chest wall are growing again. She will not be able to drive for possibly up to six weeks afterwards. Melissa is the sole driver in her household where she lives with her 76 year old mother and 16 year old son. Melissa, her mom and son will need transportation to and from work, school, radiation, physical therapy and doctor visits on weekdays. My hope/goal/wish/dream in setting up this page was primarily to raise enough money to cover the cost of transportation and remove one worry from Melissa's long list of things she is trying to take care of before her date of surgery. My secondary goal (if this page brings in enough donations) is to food shop, prepare and freeze enough healthy meals for the three of them to heat up as needed while Melissa is off her feet and focusing on her own rehab. Services are available to help the cancer patient themselves but not for the people the cancer patient themselves have to care for such as her mother and son.....that is where you come in. Melissa is ALWAYS out there fundraising for Relay for Life EVEN while going through her own chemo and radiation, never asking for help for her own needs. While she has had many days that were a struggle for her to even get out of bed during her 9 year battle with Breast Cancer she does it with a positive attitude and a smile on her face looking forward to better tomorrows. I personally want to help her make some of those tomorrows a little easier while she recovers from her surgery and I sincerely hope that after reading this you are able to help me accomplish that.
