Community centre for a poor village

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Anteia Win, I am studying at the Erasmus University College of Rotterdam, I am of French nationality, and of half French and Burmese origins.  Together with a team of friends we will be running for the Rotterdam marathon on the 9th of April. We wanted to make this run a memorable one by supporting a project that is close to us! Here is the story of the project. Every year I go back to my country of origin, Myanmar and spend a few days in a small village named Than Daung Gyi. My family and I have been trying to help very poor families whom for many are internally displaced refugees. This village is the hometown of Dolly Naw, a very close friend of mine, who has a dream of one day being able to open a community centre. She dreams of a place where she will be able to teach children who cannot afford to go to school, and also, teach the whole community English, about ethics & morals, health & hygiene, and very importantly about how to live together in peace. It will be a place for children to be able to play inside safely during the Rainy season and Hot season, and it will be equipped with a small library for children and teenagers to turn to reading instead of delinquency or violence. The community center is even more than that, it is a place for parents to learn about the benefits of sending their children to school, and for them to learn about family planning. I have seen all over the world that communities who work together have the ability to alleviate the sufferings of poverty tenfold, and this, simply by having each other's support. So we believe that yes there are many other ways to help, but what is important is not just giving what we believe they need, but what they actually need, a Community Center for all! Thus we dream of one day being able establish such a great project! But this is not possible without your support, as we believe that with YOU we can MAKE IT HAPPEN !

How to help us? There are 2 ways to help us, you can either make a donation or you can become part of the movement 'Make it happen' by sending to all you friends and family members your desire to participate in this project and make an impact!

We have set ourselves a target of 1000 euros to get started with the project, to buy the land, start the foundation of the building and hopefully start building. The final costs of the project are estimated around 4000 euros, thus any extra will help develop further the project. All funds will be directly sent to Dolly Naw (my friend) to enable her to start the project. She will update me on the progress of the project by sending me pictures of the construction, which I will upload on this funding campaign page. The picture you can see on this page was taken in Than Daung Gyi during their Sunday class, in the home of Dolly's sister.

We want to thank you for your time, service, and/or every euro which you have donated to making this dream a reality.

From the Running buddies, we wish you all a great day!
