Make Ventura County 100 percent NO KILL

On March 30, 2023, I was notified the dog I wanted to adopt, Boston, was going to be euthanized. I begged to be allowed to pick him up. I was told, no, the decision had been made. An animal rescue requested to pull Boston, but was ignored until after he was dead.

After that, I found out the local rescue community has been trying for years to get issues at Ventura County Animal Services fixed. Fortunately, for us, they are too busy saving the lives of precious animals to spend the time necessary to get real change effected.

I, however, have time and started doing my research. I want to make Ventura County 100% No Kill for healthy, adoptable animals. That was what Boston was, even though VCAS lied and said he was vicious and unadoptable. I have proof in VCAS’ own records.

I started a mission to get the laws changed because the County Executive Officer, Sevet Johnson and the Board of Supervisors refused to take any action.

I paid for an ad in the VC Star on August 6th.

I authored an initiative and filed it with the Ventura County Elections Division on August 29th.

I have paid for all of the costs associated with this mission of mine, but it is now time for the petition drive and I am hoping the animal-loving community can help defray my costs.

That is why I am starting a gofundme. All donations will be used ONLY to reimburse me for my expenses directly related to this effort. If the donations should exceed my costs, in any way, that money will be used for Board and Train for dogs in danger of being euthanized and given to the local animal rescues to help defray their costs. None of the donations will be used by me, personally, for any personal expenses or enrichment.
