Yellow-footed rock wallabies used to be widespread across inland Australia – but now, due to hunting and deforestation, they are facing the threat of extinction.
These small but mighty wallabies grow up to 60cm tall – that’s just two rulers! – and can scale cliffs and jump up to four metres with ease.
Not only nimble and sure-footed, they are also beautiful and rare, marked by a spectacular, rich orange to yellow colour on their ears, forearms, hindlegs and feet – perfect for camouflage in rocky terrain.
And we may lose them forever...
Donate for the yellow-footed rock wallaby to be Marsupial of the Year 2024!
This endangered beauty needs your support to be in with a chance to win this inaugural prize.
Your donation will support ACF’s work to protect the yellow-footed rock wallaby and 665 other threatened animals by campaigning for:
- A shift in Australia’s broken food system so it supports nature and biodiversity, protecting precious wildlife like the yellow-footed rock wallaby.
- Strong nature laws, enforced by an independent regulator, to protect land, rivers and forests so our wildlife can thrive.
- An end to climate-wrecking coal and gas in Australia, which fuels extreme weather that threatens vulnerable species like the yellow-footed rock wallaby.
