Make sure Canada’s shameful LGBT Purge is not forgotten.

From the 1950s through the 1990s, Canada's federal government carried out a cruel and systematic purge of the Military, the RCMP, and the public service of people they suspected of being gay or lesbian. Thousands of Canadians were targeted for the simple fact of being who they were and choosing to serve their country.
With the support of the LGBT Purge Fund, veteran Canadian journalist and filmmaker Paul Johnson in collaboration with Canada's first openly gay MP Svend Robinson are producing a powerful feature documentary film telling the story of this dark chapter in Canadian history. Production is underway and we need your help to complete the main field production scheduled for this summer. The documentary will follow Svend's journey as he worked with activists, allies and Purge survivors to end the Purge, from his historic leadership on the Constitution and Equality Rights Committees, working with Michelle Douglas to end the Purge in the military in 1992 and fighting for full equality in the decades afterward.

Those who donate will receive a pre-release copy of the completed film and an invitation to a screening of the project, date TBD.
